AI Cull — the first pass, done for you
It makes the mechanical calls — soft focus, blown exposure, the fourth frame of a burst — and leaves every judgement call to you.
Culling is the least creative and most time-consuming part of the job. Four thousand frames, most of them near-duplicates, and the decision on nine out of ten is obvious within a second.
AI Cull scores the set on sharpness, exposure and similarity to its neighbours, groups bursts, and nominates a keeper from each. You get a review grid with those suggestions already applied — and every one of them is a suggestion. Nothing leaves the gallery until you apply the cull, and what does leave is a soft delete you can undo.
It is explicitly not judging composition, expression or moment. It is clearing the frames that were never in contention.

A keeper is nominated per burst. Move the threshold to cull harder or keep more.

One tap flips a suggested reject back to a keep. Nothing has changed yet.

Questions
- Does it detect closed eyes?
- No. It is worth saying plainly, because it is the thing people assume. The score is built from sharpness, exposure and how similar a frame is to its neighbours — a perfectly sharp, perfectly exposed blink scores well and will be kept. Eyes are still your pass.
- Can it delete something I wanted?
- Not without you applying it, and not permanently. Suggestions are shown before anything happens, and applying performs a restorable soft delete rather than an erase.
- How long does a big shoot take?
- Applying a large cull is paced deliberately in batches rather than fired all at once, so it takes a few minutes on a set of thousands. Scoring happens ahead of that, as the photos are processed.
- Why did nothing get scored?
- Photos processed before scoring existed have no score, and a frame whose decode failed has none either. Unscored frames are never auto-rejected — the pass simply has no opinion on them.
