Subdomain or custom domain — what is the difference?

The branded subdomain is an address we host for you. The custom domain is one you own, pointed at us, and it is the only option that removes the InstantPix footer completely.

What do I have to do in DNS?

Add two records for a custom domain. Both are shown with their exact values, and both are checked before the domain is activated, so a half-configured domain never goes live in front of a client.

Once a studio has its own site, delivering from someone else's domain undercuts it — the client's last impression of the work carries a logo that isn't yours.

Two things are worth separating here, because they are usually confused. Your studio name, logo and accent colour appear on every delivery gallery already, free, for every approved photographer. What the higher tiers add is the address: first a branded subdomain, then your own custom domain with the InstantPix footer removed, so the page carries nothing of ours at all.
